You
may have read Lucy's Story on this site. When
Lucy was a teen she lost a lot of weight by cutting in half whatever she
ate, choosing healthy foods, and doing fun active stuff. After being
successful at weight loss, Lucy decided that she wanted to help other kids
to lose weight and be healthy, too. She went to college and studied
nutrition. Now she is a Registered Dietitian! Ashlie RN also helps with the chat. Ashlie was Lawrence's girlfriend, who used to be overweight, helped Lawrence to lose weight, and later became a nurse and helps kids lose weight. Every Wednesday, either Lucy or Ashlie is in the new chatroom, from 7 pm to 8 pm EST (East coast USA time) 1900-2000 hrs. This is 6 PM central time, 5 PM mountain time, and 4 PM west coast time, and 12 midnight UK time, 1 AM European time, and 9 AM in Australia (Brisbane). Check out these upcoming topics: May 21, 2008 - Exercise Exercise does not have to be the "E" word, like walking on a treadmill or doing aerobics. Exercise can be anything fun that gets your heart pumping. Share with other kids some good ideas of fun things/activities you like to do. May 14, 2008 - After school eating School or home stressing you out? Many kids deal with feeling this way by grabbing food. This may make you feel good for a little while, but many times kids feel guilty about it, and of course it can make you gain weight. May 7, 2008 - Sneaking food We can easily sabotage our own efforts to lose weight. Sneaking food is one way. Have you ever done this? Why do people sneak food? Is it because of overwhelming cravings? Is is because of bingeing? What causes this? Come hear what Ashlie RN thinks about this and tell others what you think. April 30, 2008 - Social support Losing weight is hard. Having someone to turn to for support and encouragement can really help. When you try to lose weight, whom do you count on for help and support? Your family? Your best friend? Your school nurse? Your PE teacher? Your minister? Come chat about this. April 23, 2008 - Summer Clothes How do you feel about buying clothes for summer time, considering most clothes are a little more revealing than a winter sweater or coat? What about swim suits? What kind of clothes work the best? Come to the chat and say what you think. April 16, 2008 - Summer Weight Loss 2 Are you ready for summer? Many of us get bored in the summer, and we may overeat because of boredom. What would you like to do fun this summer? Maybe make some money doing odd jobs? How about volunteering at the ASPCA or zoo to help lonely animals, or maybe volunteer at your local hospital? Is there a sport you've always wanted to try? Tennis anyone? Plan ahead so you are not bored sitting at home and not being active. April 9, 2008 - Summer Weight Loss 1 Many kids and teens are gearing up for summer. With summer comes bathing suits and shorts. This makes many think about changing their weight. Come chat about goals for summer and beyond! April 2, 2008 - Turn It Up! Did you know dancing is a great way to lose weight? Come chat about ways to put dancing into your day for exercise. Who knew exercise could be so FUN!?! March 26, 2008 - Teasing Being overweight is tough enough! Why do some people like to pick on larger people? Why does it hurt our weight loss too? Come chat about this topic. Talking about it can help support each other to bring each other strength. March 19, 2008 - No Lucy Chat. Lucy will not be in the chat room. You can still come by and chat with old and new friends on the best ways to lose weight! March 12, 2008 - Food Addiction Do you have a tough time eating less? Do you have a REALLY tough time eating less of certain foods? When you try to cut down on those foods do you get "antsy" and stressed out? You may be "addicted" to the pleasure of food. Find out how to deal with food addiction. March 5, 2008 - Help! I can't stop eating when I am bored! Do you find yourself with an empty bag of chips in your hand after school everyday? Many kids and teens eat when they are bored. Most are bored after they get home from school. Come chat about things to do to stop eating when you are bored! February 27, 2008 - Breaking the Overeating Cycle Many of us get into a cycle of overeating. We may feel bad about ourselves. This may cause us to overeat more. How can you break this cycle?
